Difference Between Wheat Allergies and Celiac Disease

fever or allergies that happen to pets. The allergy is stimulated when basophiles or
some specific white blood cells and mast cells react to Immunoglobulin E or IgE for
short. Generally, wheat allergy can be treated well with an antihistamine.
General symptoms of wheat allergy include rashes and itching sensation apart from a
pain in the stomach or even in the mouth. Occasional sneezing and teary eyes are
some other symptoms as well. Note that all these symptoms happen soon after the
intake of wheat.
Gluten intolerance is an autoimmune disease. This may happen through Celiac
disease or even non-Celiac gluten sensitivity or NCGS. The symptoms are not always
the same in this case. This medical condition occurs when the system responds to
the proteins such as glutenin and gliadin. When the extremely strong antibodies react
to the proteins mentioned above and they also tend to affect the small intestine.
With time, the villus that is found along the small intestine weakens. This in turns
weakens the functions of the intestine and slows down the digestion and absorption
of food. Contrary to popular belief, this condition is not an instant response. It could
take weeks, months or sometimes even many years for you to find out the result of
this reaction.
The after-effects of these symptoms of gluten intolerance can be fatal if not treated
on time. The patients may end up suffering for a long time with general weakness
and malnutrition. They may also be depressed most often.
It is very important to properly learn the differentiating factors between these two
medical conditions. Always remember that these types of allergies happen soon after
the intake of wheat products. Gluten intolerance changes symptoms over time. This
could happen when you consume any food containing gluten and not only a food
with wheat. Hence, all patients suffering gluten intolerance must stop eating all food
items containing gluten.
