Can Omega 3 Fatty Acids in Fish Oil Cure Cancer?
by Michael Byrd
Recently, several scientists have suggested that taking large amounts of omega 3
fatty acids, a nutrient that your body needs to function but cannot produce on its
own, might actually impede the progress of cancer.
This suggestion has upset many cancer oriented organizations, which feel that this
may present a ray of false hope to people suffering from terminal cancers and cause
other people to engage in perilous behaviors because they believe that they are
secure because they eat large amounts of fatty fish like tuna and salmon, which are
extremely high in omega 3.
Currently, there is no solid evidence to indicate that omega 3 fish oil can cure cancer,
but there is still some very important, conclusive information about this essential
nutrient to be found in the results of recent scientific findings.
For example, while omega 3 may not cure cancer, multiple long term studies do
indicate that it can increase resistance to colorectal cancer and help women fight
breast cancer. However, the dosages needed to create these effects are extremely
high, and the only culture that consumes those amounts as part of a traditional diet
is Eskimo.
Omega 3 is good for many things, including cardiovascular health and psychological
well being, so getting a solid daily dose can benefit you in many ways as well as
simply preventing cancer issues later in life.
In order to insure that you are getting the right kinds of omega 3 and the right
dosages, you should invest in a supplement that not only is guaranteed toxin-free,
but that is approved by organizations like the World Health Organization and the
American College of Toxicology. Also, make sure that it contains pure salmon oil
from salmon raised in the Arctic Circle, as these fish generally swim in unpolluted
waters and are better for you than tuna or swordfish.

also improve their quality of life while
doing so. However, this does not
change the fact that there is no
better way to deal with cancer than
to take steps to prevent it before you
get it.
