Diabetes Type 2 Menu - Foods That Lower Blood Sugar
by Tehmina Mazher

A recently collected statistical data has revealed that more that 20 million individuals
of America are suffering from diabetes. Of those 20 million 95% are the case of
diabetes type 2. The most alarming fact is that if this data is compared with the one
collected in 1988, then a wide fluctuation can be seen in the average age of the
individuals. Average age has been now dropped from 46 years which was previously
52 years.

Another undesirable fact about diabetes is that this ailment is not only limited to the
age of the individuals alone. Now the youngsters and teen the teenagers are at an
increased risk towards developing the disease. The scope of the disease has been
greatly increased. Now it has been proved that people of all gender are equally
susceptible of developing the disease.

The question here is still the same and that is what actually causes diabetes. It is
generally believed that diabetes is a disability of pancreas. The problem starts when
there is less insulin production in the body than it is required. Insulin is a hormone that
is responsible for converting sugar into glucose. Glucose is the prime source of
energy at cellular level.

The most difficult part of the disease is that symptoms of this chronic ailment are
very harder to identify. The most commonly seen signs of diabetes are excessive
thirst, increased urination, fatigue, increased hunger, blurriness in vision and slow
healing of cuts and minor infections.

If you are experiencing these signs of diabetes then it is better to consult the doctor.
As the doctor is in a better position of evaluating the signs of diabetes, your family
history and then can accordingly prescribe you the diabetes screening tests.

Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes

The most important part of the treatment of diabetes is to lose weight. It has been
proved that losing the piled up fats around the abdominal area helps in the extra
insulin production. Losing the unwanted weight results in controlling the level of blood
glucose. One can lose weight by having a control on his eating plan and by young
regular exercises.
