that you cannot spot reduce fat on your belly anymore than you can reduce it on
your chin or your arm. Even if you could the typical stomach exercise doesn't exert
enough effort to make a significant difference in weight loss.

So, now the goal is not to get rid of belly fat in specific but to reduce your overall
body fat percentage. To do this you need to stack the deck in your favor and actually
increase your metabolism so that you are burning calories at a higher rate
throughout the day.

The best way to do this is by doing what are called compound weight lifting
exercises. They are called compound because they work multiple muscle groups at
once as opposed to isolating a single muscle like curls. Basically you are working your
entire body and throwing it into a state of metabolic shock.

The compound exercises you need to start doing are things like the dead lift, squats,
bench press, clean and jerk, renegade rows and others. One of the added benefits of
lifting weights for fat reduction is that muscle is heavier than fat so that your body
must work harder and you are burning even more fat throughout the day.
