Raw Food Diet - Seven Reasons to Make the Switch to Eating
Raw Food
by Kelly Cannon
the switch to raw food diets:

1. Foods are higher in nutritional value when they are eaten raw. When we cook
foods, not only does it destroy vitamins, proteins and fat that we need, it actually
breaks down the naturally occurring enzymes that would help us to digest the food.

2. You can maintain a healthy weight much easier with raw foods. We get full faster
on a raw diet because the foods contain more water and fiber, so we eat less.
Additionally, filling fruits and vegetables are lower in calories - so you can each as
much as it takes to feel full without overdoing it.

3. Flavor! Foods have much more flavor in their raw state, so you can use less salt
and spices.

4. It's simple to do - If you're tired of spending most of your evening after work in
the kitchen preparing meals and cleaning up, you'll love how simple it is to prepare
and clean up after a raw meal.

5. It's good for the environment - it encourages the use of organic and local produce,
and leftovers can go on the compost pile.

6. It's better for you general health - raw foods don't contain the free radicals caused
by cooking, so there is less risk of cancer. More fiber in your food leads to less
digestive problems, and less incidence of colon cancers. And it is so rich in nutrition, it
helps your body stay fit and working well, giving you more natural immunity against
illnesses like colds and flu.

7. You can save money! Foods from the produce department are a lot cheaper than
steaks and pork chops. You also won't need to buy as many pots and pans - and
you might even save on your medical bills.

meal plans are the way to go. Raw foods are healthier, lower in cost and are a
greener option than most cooked food diets.
Our prehistoric ancestors ate most of
their food raw - vegetables, fruits,
nuts and berries made up a great
portion of the hunter/gatherer diet.
But since we learned to use fire to
cook our food, our diet has changed
- people these days rarely eat
anything raw, except maybe a salad
alongside their steak. However,
recently there has been more of a
focus on healthy eating, and this has
convinced many people that eating
more raw foods is the way to go.

Here are some of the reasons
that so many people are making
