Vitamin C Nutrition - How to Find a Safe and Effective Source
by Jennifer A. Hart
farming methods and deregulation. What is a person to do to find a safe and
effective source?
Supplements have been on the market for several years to solve this dilemma. But,
most of the vitamin C nutrition in a supplement is usually isolated. This means that it
is manufactured in a synthetic form called ascorbic acid. While some may argue that
this is sufficient, ascorbic acid has been found to irritate a sensitive stomach, as well
as limit the full absorption of vitamin C. The best choice I have found are whole food
sources.
Whole food supplements are a natural source that the body can assimilate. Nature
gives vitamin C its power and effectiveness. It intelligently provides other organic
components that help deliver all the nutrients as well. Therefore, nothing is wasted!
Whole foods include other phytonutrients that an isolated supplement lacks. It is
definitely an effective and economical choice.
The highest source of naturally-occurring vitamin C in the world is Camu Camu. This
is a berry growing in the floodplains of the Amazon Rainforest. It is a strong
antioxidant that prevents the aging of cells. Camu Camu provides thirty times more
vitamin C than an orange; as well as iron, niacin, riboflavin, phosphorus, calcium,
potassium, and essential amino acids. It is really power-packed! Not only is it ideal
for cardiovascular health, but studies show it works wonders for emotional well-being
and anti-aging.
So if you really want to receive a full intake of vitamin C that you know is safe and
potent, choose a whole food source growing sustainably, or in the wild. Avoid
ingesting any pesticides that could endanger your health. Science is a valuable part of
our development, yet it is important to balance with nature and choose things that
are in harmony with our bodies and the earth.

Having an optimal intake of vitamin C
is important for our cardiovascular
health. It is perhaps the most
important of all vitamins that is not
produced by our body. We all know
that a healthy amount vegetables
and fruits (especially oranges) will
give us a good amount of vitamin C.
The only problem is that many people
do not add enough to their diet. And,
if they do, the produce is sprayed
with toxins and chemicals that can be
detrimental to our health. Organic is
an ideal choice, but much of the soil
in today's agriculture has been
stripped of vitamins from intense
