Omega-3s perform all these beneficial tasks by helping the body produce a series of

margarine. While they are also essential to life, they must be balanced by omega-3s
to prevent problems.

Food sources of omega-3 are varied, cold water fish such as salmon, mackerel and
anchovies have it in abundance. It can also be derived from botanical sources such as
flax seed and chia seed. Omega-3s can also be found in lesser amounts in walnuts
and certain other nuts. Dietary supplements such as fish oil and bulk flax or chia seed
are also used as sources.

Many people are not eating enough fish to get the fish oil benefits, either because of
the concern of mercury or other contamination, or because they just don't like fish.
Often they turn to taking fish oil capsules instead but this doesn't work nearly as well.
Many nutritionists believe that supplements are only about 50% absorbed into the
body where whole foods are absorbed at 90% rates.

Having said all this, the best source of omega-3s with the highest absorption rates is
refined chia seed. While flax seed benefits are certainly better known, refined chia has
more omega-3s as well as other nutritional benefits such as Potassium, Iron, and
